I retired my old Thinkpad E531 today. I replaced it with a Thinkpad X13 GEN1.
I purchased the E531 back in 2014. I don’t remember who suggested that I go for a thinkpad Thinkpad instead of a Dell that I initially had in mind but whoever it was, I owe him a great deal.
The RAM on this machine was upgraded 4 times, I changed the keyboard a couple of times, the battery was replaced a couple of times and recently I had to weld the chassis in order to keep it from falling apart.
It served me well. I purchased my first car with the money that I earned working on it as well as my first house. So it’s fair to say It holds a sentimental value for me. So I am going to retire it, but never throw it away.
It’s going to sit on my shelf for a long time.
