I usually try to steer clear of Iranian Politics. Not because I’m not interested in politics, but because it’s all gone down the drain in the past 46 years. Everyone involved in it is either a simpleton or somehow profiting from the corrupt process, directly or indirectly.
But unfortunately, our lives are tied to the process, so we can’t always ignore it.
On that note I wanted to make some points about the new guy and how he wants to paint himself as a down-to-earth president. He’s trying to paint himself as a relatable leader. Let me just say, he’s neither relatable nor a “leader”.
I’m speaking more generally about the leadership role, and not specifically about Pezeshkian because he is meant to be more than a puppet than a leader. But anyhow, modern politicians try to take this approach to try to look more relatable and appealing to normal folks. But that’s not how things work anymore. Normal folk want a leader who is better than themselves, more successful than themselves. Politicians don’t understand that.
A good leader is someone who’s motivated by a great cause. And a great leader can make people rally around that cause. You’re not gonna be able to do that by populist moves like spending your time attending funerals, not shaving your face and taking selfies with people.
So I think in the end he’s going to be a real good and reliable puppet. And in 4 years from now, his gang will crawl out of their rat nests again and try to paint a picture between “worst” and “evil” and try to scare people into voting for him again.
I’ll give you my 5 cents. Puppets are meant to be dispensable. He’ll be thrown under the bus and will be replaced with another one for the next term. The dispensable president.
